[insert: whoa, how is it already October comment here]

Hello beautiful month of October! I have always loved this month + have a feeling it’s going to be a great one! Before I go there, let’s talk September. September had it’s challenges + was full of joy at the same time. My sister + brother [in law] had their first baby. A little girl, Raegan Michelle. She’s the sweetest thing but kept us on our toes the first two weeks with having to stay in the NICU. During that time I had to take a little time away from my laptop. This is NOT something I am good at doing. I get anxious thinking about my inbox, growing to-do list not being tended to, not being there at all times to assist…you name it, it makes me anxious. I don’t ever want to let someone down.

Let me tell you, I am a people pleaser + believe if there is a will there’s a way. On top of that, my mentality was shaped growing up as an athlete: be strong, tough, + composed. No excuses, no matter what. If I wouldn’t have shut down a bit the week, though, there was such high emotion, my quality of my work would have suffered. It was a week that family took precedence. That’s a big reason I do what I do. So when scenarios that the people most important to me need something, I am there. No questions. Sometimes i have an internal battle with myself but have to remind myself that it’s ok to not be able to do everything, to not answer an email within 5 minutes, to say i can’t, to say no.

I, thankfully, work with the most kind, thoughtful, supportive people + they would check-in to give supportive words + to hear updates. Ultimately, the best people!

That’s a little recap of September for you. A scaled down version. So let’s look talk goals!

Reoccuring Goals Review:

  1. Journal every morning & evening! This is all made possible through my FAVORITE journaling tool – The Five Minute Journal  Yes! Let’s just say baby Rae was a hot topic of my journal this month – so thankful for her!
  2. Drink a gallon of water a day. I did! I had my fair share of hot chocolate, too – it was really chilly some days in Michigan!
  3. Have a date with Jack. We have not been together much with he being in Charlotte while I have been in Michigan but we did sneak in a little lunch + coffee yesterday when he arrived in Michigan. It was the best! Even better than my honey rose latte that I enjoyed during our coffee date that was out of this world…so that’s saying something 😉
  4. SLOW DOWN & take in every moment! This is probably the best I have done at this to date. I was able to really press pause to be there with family when we all needed it most.

September Goal Recap:
My focus of September was to partake in continuing education. I would give myself a solid C for this. I did what I could get in with my to-do list + unexpectedly taking some time to be with my family. What I did do, however, is make sure to get links for anything I missed to I could watch them back. One webinar I really enjoyed was one presented by Dubsado. They talked all about workflows. I also just love Dubsado + the way they are constantly adapting + how they communicate with their customers so have never found something I don’t like from them!

There will definitely be some follow through with some others I was planning on diving into in September, this month.

October Goals:
This month I am focusing on one word. It’s going to be in the forefront of how I approach each task, email, business decision, + such. This word was inspired by a call I had with Kelsea of Kindly by Kelsea. If you don’t know her, follow along on your business journey. She’s a joy to follow + constantly inspiring me with the beautiful branding she’s assisting her clients with. Anyways, the word I am focusing on is elevate. I have a few areas where this word, specifically, will come in big time. I can’t share that yet though. Stay tuned as some changes are coming in the next few months!

That’s all for me! I would love to hear what you are planning to make October special. Here’s to that!
